Specific Rules
NO PROFANITY!
Please watch your language. We do have children racers. Also, we don't want to discourage the spectators from trying out our hobby. We want to project a friendly atmosphere that welcomes new people.
Clean Up After Yourself
Leave your pit area clean. Pick up all the garbage that you brought. Garbage is defined as anything that was not there when you arrived. Including but not limiting to food or beverage containers, zip ties you cut from your car, parts of car bodies that came off, backing from the bar number stickers, duct tape from the truck, cigarette butts, etc...
Smoking and Drinking
Please limit your smoking near other racers. Do not smoke inside. A can is provided outside for butts, do not throw them on the ground please. No alcohol consumption is allowed period.
Corner Marshaling
All racers will be expected to corner marshal the race after the one that they are scheduled to participate in. The exception to this is the Novice racers will corner each other and not the rest of the classes. Even if you do not race, because of a broken car, dead battery, or any other reason, you will still be expected to corner marshal. Any exception to this rule (such as running two cars in back to back races or helping with the lap counting) must be cleared with the race officials. If for any reason, the race official thinks you do not have a valid reason for not corner marshaling and you do not corner marshal, that race official may disqualify you from receiving some or all of the bonus bucks.
When you are corner marshaling:
-
Watch the area you are cornering, not the race.
-
Do not run across the track to get a car in someone else's area. Someone might need you in your area when you are gone.
-
Try to get to the cars that need help as soon as possible but DO NOT step in front of, or impede in any way, the cars that are still racing. Wait for them to pass before walking onto the track.
-
If a car breaks, take it off the track, do not sit on the track trying to repair it.
-
Do not spend more than a few seconds (enough to snap back on a tie rod) with a broken car (and only if you can pay attention to your area of the track at the same time).
-
Corner marshals are not required to handle cars that have their throttle on. If a car is upside down and the driver has the throttle on, step back from the car, look up at the drivers stand, and wait for them to stop the car. (note: some gas cars may seem to be on the throttle because of air in the fuel line caused by being upside down. Use your own judgement and be careful).
-
Handle the cars with care.
-
Keep both feet on the ground. If you have to jump over the cars, you should have waited for them to go by first. Landing with all your weight on a car will cause more damage to you and the car than having the driver wait a few more seconds for you to get to their car.
-
Do not block the line of sight from the drivers stand to the track.
-
Corner marshals may be penalized for not paying attention to their area. As long as you are trying to get a car back into the race and you are not impeding any car that is till in the race, you are doing you job, don't worry about what the drivers say. The driver of the car is responsible for keeping their car on the track, not you. You are there to help the drivers recover from their own mistakes.
-
Drivers may be penalized for unnecessary yelling at the corner marshals or other drivers, or for using profanity when they crash.
During Practice
Practice is defined as any time before the first heat, and during any breaks that the track is open.
-
Non-DSM Radios must have a frequency pin attached to the antenna when on, even in the pit area. If you do not have the proper frequency pin, the radio must be turned off. When you are done using your radio, turn it off and return the frequency pin to the board.
-
Do no walk across the track.
-
Be careful when testing your car off of the track. You could hurt someone or you could get your car run over by a real car.
Before the races
-
When the sign-ups are opened, sign-up as soon as possible. The faster we get this done the faster the races will get started.
-
After the sign-ups are closed, pay attention for your name to be called. If your name is called, there is a problem with your entry. Either, there is no one else in your class, your car number needs to be changed, or you have the same frequency as someone else. If the car or frequency number conflict cannot be resolved, the person that signed in first will be allowed to keep the frequency that they signed in with.
During the races
-
No Radios, Including DSM, are to be on or in the pit area or in the parking lot during the qualifying heats or mains. Only the racers participating in a race are allowed to have their radios on. do not turn on your radio even if you check to make sure none of the other racers are using your frequency.
-
Once a frequency is assigned to you, do not change it without FIRST informing a race official so any conflicts can be avoided.
-
Do not yell at the corner marshals other than saying "Corner" to get their attention. You are the one that got stuck, it's not the corner marshals fault.
-
Do not walk in front of or talk to the computer operator. They are keeping score of the laps and need to keep an eye on the cars that are racing.
-
When your race is finished, turn off your radio and car, return the transponder, and get back out to the track to corner marshal as soon as possible.
-
We have a limited time to get all the races done. If you are in the next race make sure your acar is ready to go (i.e. fresh battery). When the previous race is complete, we will be lining up the next race immediately. If your car isn't on the track within a reasonable time (2 minutes for electric), the race will start without you. As soon as you are ready, you may join the race in progress.
After the races
Clean up your area and the track area (especially any food or beverage containers.)
